Ideas
Our initial ideas consisted of main issues within society, such as anxiety, homelessness, use of drugs etc, but we decided that these were too mainstream and not creative enough. From the idea of homelessness and an issue of food, we decided to focus on an inanimate object and follow the theme title "The greatest day", by following the one day life of 'the sandwich'.
'The Sandwich'
The idea that we decided to develop was an idea for a short film, following the life of a sandwich. The story would begin with the sandwich being made in a store, and then being put on the shelf to be bought. It would be a silent film which uses music to create the mood and tone of the film and the journey of the sandwich.
Developing our ideas
- Include a real main character to help convey mood along side the sandwich
- Show the bond between the consumer and the sandwich
- Create a location for the sandwich to be made (loving/fast production?)
- Create a timeline and list where various events will occur (what happens after the sandwich is bought, when the equilibrium/disequilibrium will occur)
- Decide on an ending - one which will be unexpected to create a 'cliff hanger' effect and so viewers don't know what to expect or it will surprise them and turn the narrative on its head
- Research to do - watch silent films: The Artist and Wall-e
